For more than a decade, Robin Blakely has provided PR Therapy for people promoting products and services, that include books, audio tapes, DVDs, nonprofit services, seminars, classes, and one-on-one consulting.
Robin has provided media coaching and executive coaching to clients participating in satellite media tours for Crest, Listerine, Similac, Huggies, QVC, and more.
As a publicity agent and creative career manager, Robin has secured and managed promotional placements for clients at print, broadcast, and live venues that have included HGTV, Book TV, The Los Angeles Times Festival of Books, The National Baseball Hall of Fame, The Hollywood Reporter, ABC World News, Vanity Fair, and more. She has shepherded more than 70 fiction and nonfiction books into the marketplace, working through all phases of book development, sales, product launch, and author/book promotions. Her clients have published books in genres that include business, psychology, mystery, romance, science fiction, handcrafts, children's, how-to, parenting, humor, and more. The publishers of the fiction and nonfiction books include Simon and Schuster, Penguin/Putnam, Kensington Books, St. Martin's, Harper Collins, Warner Books, Paraview Press, Pocket Books, McGraw-Hill/Contemporary Books, Breckling Press, Amacom, and more.
An advocate for nonprofit causes, Robin has launched a special series of creativity workshops to motivate and inspire adults with developmental disabilities. She has led a successful volunteer program, promoting community volunteerism while providing psychiatric and vocational rehabilitation opportunities for agency clients.
Early in her career, Robin was a news writer who became the producer of a live radio talk show that featured guests who included the vice president of the United States, best-selling authors including NY Times bestseller Harvey McKay, comedians such as Bob Hope, Jeff Foxworthy, and Steve Allen, television personalities such as Mike Wallace, and others. Robin produced a series of reading events for Los Angeles County schoolchildren. Through this educational program, children were introduced to the behind-the-scenes worlds of award-winning authors, including such luminaries as Madeleine L'Engle, Jon Scieszka, Barbara Park, Patricia Polacco, and more. For seven years, Robin taught and coordinated the Professional Writers Certificate Program at California University Extension Services at California State University, Long Beach.
Robin now lives in the suburbs of Kansas City, MO with her handsome husband who cooks, three talented kids who love commercials, and the family's neurotic poodle who never sleeps at night.
